Team Meeting 2

During this meeting, we began discussing whether we found the suitable actors for our music video. As I was assigned with finding the protagonist girl, I expressed my desire to audition the role, as I felt the actress playing the protagonist has to be really good at presenting her emotions(mostly because the protagonist is going through a rather emotional situation). Therefore, I decided to hold an audition on the 4th of November with a friend who agreed to try for the role in order to see if she is suitable and also to get her acquainted with the role. As for my partner, she also told me that she found a boy that could play the role of our protagonist’s boyfriend. Aside of discussing about the actors, we also decided for a day in which we should start filming and both negotiated for the following Saturday on 9th of November; this is because we found it more convenient to film during the weekend as it would be less stressful. Last but not least, we also discussed whether to get the DSLR cameras or regular cameras. While pondering this decision, we balanced which one would be more convenient, and concluded that we should use the DSLR. The reason why we chose the DSLR was because we were going to have night shoots during which a HD camera would behave better than a regular camera.

Call Sheet (day 2)

Roles and Responsabilities

For better time management, my team mate and I decided to split tasks between the two of us. This is because we realised that it would be a more effective way of meeting deadlines. In the same time, we also believe that the quality of our project will improve as it will allow both of us to focus on different aspects of our project and thus, avoid chaos.

Me:  My task will mainly revolve around the responsibilities of a director. Therefore, I am the one in charge of the storyboard. It is thus my duty to create a detailed guide of every shot, camera angles, lighting and timing. I will also be in charge with the production schedule, as well as what props we should use for the music video. There tasks include creating an accurate schedule for the days we are going to shoot, as well as what scenes we are going to shoot during the two days of filming.

The importance of my task: The storyboard will allow us to visualize the actions that our actors are going to make. By portraying our idea on paper, the storyboard is going to be an excellent guide that will allow us to concentrate on what we have to shoot without forgetting any aspect of the story. The schedule will also help us stay focused as well as allowing us to know exactly what we have to do.

Jazz:  My team mate’s task will revolve around the responsibilities of a producer. She will be the one in charge of the recce as well as completing call sheets such as talent releases, risk assessments and location release forms. It is therefore her duty to decide and visit all the locations and annotate them, but also check all the potential risks that we might be taking. For example, any problems such as ethical issues and permission to film in certain locations are for her to decide and communicate to the rest of the team.

The importance of her task: Jazz’s task is very important as it explores what possible locations we can use. Her task also identifies any problems with our locations, which ultimately helps us decide if it’s realistic to film in certain places or not.

Joint tasks: Jazz and I also decided that as a team, we should also concomitantly work with the camera and the continuity of our music video. The reason why we refuse to designate the tasks to only one member is because we believe that doing them together will allow us to work more productively. We also believe that those two tasks cannot be decided by only one member because we both want to allow ourselves the freedom to change anything at any time.

Team Meeting

For this meeting, we mainly focused on the production of the music video and whether we have the necessary equipment for it. We therefore went through the storyboard again in order to make sure that we knew the storyboard as well as to make sure that the narrative makes sense.  I found double checking rather helpful because I felt like this way we would avoid a possible misunderstanding in the future. We also double checked on the props and made sure that we knew what to bring. As we decided which should bring what, we also revisited previous option in order to make sure that we won’t regret not bringing something that we previously thought of. Last but not least, we also discussed the issue of our actor’s withdrawal and decided that I should look for the actress portraying the protagonist(the girl) while my partner should look for the actor portraying the protagonist’s boyfriend(the boy).

3rd of October

Today, during our lesson, my partner and I discussed about the characters we were going to include in our music video. In this lesson, we mostly focused on our protagonist and how she is suppose to look like. We thus agreed that she is suppose to be thin and very fashionista looking, mostly because we want her to be part of the youth culture. Based on the situation she is in (breaking up with her boyfriend) we also decided that the character should be very energetic. This is because the story revolves around a rather young couple and we felt that she is suppose to make mistakes and learn from them. Discussing character development ultimately helped us with understanding our character and thus, make the best decission on what kind of situations she will have to confront in the storyboard of the video.

1st of October

Today, my partner and I decided to work on the storyboard for our music video. We started off with drawing our storyboard but quickly resolved to focus on the story. We thus ended up by explaining shot by shot every aspect of the video, as well as including the timing of the lyrics.
